Pwning software anyone?

Saturday, April 21, 2007

Now i know all of us here are full blooded PC users and despise macs, but i just have to mention this. I found this out of desperation one night and well is the best work of programing ive ever seen.

“CodeWeavers’ mission is to transform Mac OS X and Linux into Windows®-compatible operating systems. By doing so, we provide a bridge to help users migrate from the Windows software world to these other environments. We do this primarily by making it possible to use Windows software on Mac OS X and Linux.”

Now i dont know about you guys, but is that not the sexiest thing ever?! It drives me crazy when i want to run my Zune but dont have a pc that can do it!

Now the only setback is that its only for the Intel based macs, but works on all Linux system’s so you guys should check it out for your serves and what not’s!

Anatomy of a Scam

Wednesday, April 11, 2007

Alright. This is going in uncategorized because I’m not really sure where to stick it.

A little side project of mine I’ve started up: www.mygeekspace.com.

I’ve had my resume posted on some job sites for a few months, and got a ton of these fake job offers from scammers wanting me to reship items, rewire money, etc. I got fed up with it, and contacted careerbuilder.com, the company from which i received most of these offers, to try get them to take some action. They refused.

So now, I’m forced to take it into my own hands. I’m blogging the entire experience of accepting one of these fake job’s, and you can share in my fun and excitement with the new “position”. I’m including screenshots of all the emails back and forth, and should there be any phone calls I will be recording them and uploading them for your listening pleasure as well.

My ultimate goal with this project is going to be to “out” the scammers, though another high on the list is to inform any of the people victimized by these “scammers” of what is going on so that they can fix whatever damage may have been done to their finances.

Also, don’t forget to click the “digg it” button on the right side…. :-p

I’m a lazy asshole.

Tuesday, April 3, 2007

I know what you’re thinking. “Andy, why no posting. JT posts every day, yet all you do is play crackdown and WOW. You lazy piece of shit.” Tis true, hypothetical reader, I am quite lazy. And what am I getting at.
Well we all know that JT is the computer genius, and I’m the creative one (sorta). Lately I’ve been trying to turn one of my many unfinished works into a comic or graphic novel. Its gonna be called Anonymous and its about two hackers and their encounter with an advanced childlike A.I. Its an idea that I started back in my creative writing class and I’ve been toying around with ever sense.

This is the original two stories. the first with the hackers and the second with a soldier that encounters the AI. Now to leave you with the beginning of the comic script which is not much.

Panel 1: An open eye with the reflection of an explosion in the pupil.
Caption: This world is filled with people.
Panel 2: Shows more of the face, the nose and around the eye.
Caption: People with names and numbers. Haunted by their identity
Panel 3: Shows the whole face. It’s a male face with almost no expression. He has brown medium length hair and an unshaven chin.
Caption: But I have none.

Page 2: Full page panel of a man standing in front of a skyscraper exploding.
Caption: I am anonymous.
