I haven’t posted a maintenance update since December it looks like. I don’t know what all I’ve changed before today, but here is what I did today:

• Updated Akismet to 2.1.6
  • Akismet’s blocked over 5,500 spam comments and counting.
• Updated Google’s Sitemap Generator to 3.1.0.1
• Updated Simple Tags to 1.5.6
• Deleted several spam user accounts.  I have no idea why they keep getting created so often, they aren’t leaving comments or spam anywhere.
• Added Feedburner site tracking code into posts
• Removed the feedburner redirection link from the titles in the rss feed
• Changed the feedburner location to http://feeds.thesh17.com/TheSh17
• Our #1 referring search term is “bioshock”
  • Mostly for the Bioshock Downloadable Artbook
• Fixed a few bugs with the website loading

The pc demo for bioshock actually came out yesterday but I forgot about it since I was playing the 360 demo.

The Cult of Rapture worked together with the Bioshock team to put together this free PDF art book. It’s full of 67 pages with pretty pictures that you can look at. You could download the hi-res version (75mb) and take it somewhere to print and bind. Maybe even make giant posters.

Bioshock is the game I’ve probably wanted the most this year. The demo is out on the 360 and it’s badass even if it’s a little short. Bioshock comes out in two days on the 21st of August.

This is the commercial airing on the TV for it.

 Here’s a clip of some more gameplay in bioshock.

I love how the game’s really open-ended on completing objectives.  This video shows the guy going through the same room three times.  Once, he basically dies trying to shoot everything.  Twice, he hacks a turret and lights people on fire then electrocutes them when they run to a body of water to put themselves out.   The third time he turns the Big Daddy to his side, and later kills him to get the Adam from the little girl.

Some of the little details are really cool too, like how you can move and rotate trip wires to your advantage using telekinesis.  Pretty nifty.
